Paint Sealant "The Protector" is this a rip?
My dealer is offering a service called "The Protector" which is a paint sealer.. Is this a rip, I cannot find any information about it?

two questions...
How much do they want to charge you?
Do you have a place and the time to wash, dry, clay bar, polish and seal your paint yourself?
If you do have a place where you can wash and dry the car yourself and an "out of the sun" place (like a garage) to use for the clay bar, polish and sealent steps then you have to ask yourself if the cost of your time and effort is more than the cost of paying the dealer to do the work.
Personally, I'd do the work myself cause then I'd know it was done correctly (I bet the dealer won't be doing the clay bar step which is essential IMO).
Last weekend I applied Blackfire to the hood, front end and roof: clay bar, polish and sealant. I am quite impressed with the result and it was fairly easy. I spent approx $80 on these Blackfire products (www.properautocare.com - 2 kits: new car kit and poly clay kit) and it took me a total of about 2.5 hours to do the work spread over an entire day (gotta leave drying time for the polish and sealant steps).

i'd do it myself
pick up a coupla things:
a claybar
meguiars polymer sealant #20
meguiars hi-tech liquid wax #26
you can also throw in the show car glaze #7 before #20
all this should run you no more than $50, you may have a hard time finding #20, but if you order online, they should have all of it.
