^ haha I like your thinking. I do have that coverage with my insurance. I'd still be leery about having my windshield replaced...I've heard horror stories about leaks and poor workmanship when windshields get replaced.

This is my 3rd windshield in my G. No leaks or noises.

I've had good success with Diamondite...

After using the spray clay, I polish it down using Autoglym on a Porter Cable polisher before finishing off the glass with the rest of the Diamondite steps (cleaner and sealer). I've been pretty happy with the results. The Diamondite kit is a little on the pricey side though.

Here's some pics - Before and after

The outcome was less than perfect. However, it is MUCH better and I feel my $6 was well spent.

After cleaning, I took a fresh microfiber cloth, wet it, and rubbed the windshield to reveal the wiper streaks. This was the problem I was looking to eliminate. You can see some of the streaks here (ignore the lateral streaking - that's from wiping it with the microfiber)

Then, using an applicator pad, I applied some Glass Science Glass Scrub and worked my arm off applying it to the entire windshield. It creates a slight foam, sorta like soap. I didn't see that the applicator pad was picking up a noticible amount of dirt and caked on grime, but I kept applying the product with a generous amount of force to the windshield.
Here's how it looked after. STILL couldn't get rid of the wiper marks and water marks...

Afterwards, I applied some Glass Science Rain Gel to seal and smooth the pores and pits in the glass.
Today brought a light mist of rain...I jumped outside to see how my windshield held up with the new treatment...

Though there are still wiper blade paths remaining, the rain drops collected on the windshield in a much more uniform manner than they did before the Glass Science treatment. The kit did help. Was it perfect? Nope. But maybe I didn't clean it good enough the first time. I'll try again in a few weeks. For now, I'm satisfied. While driving the car, the windshield definitely felt cleaner, and the wiper blades weren't streaking as much as before. The Rain Gel seemed to be the most effective portion of the 2 part treatment.

Punchit, thanks again for the tip.
Maybe next time I'll give Paragon's recommendation a whirl.

Get some glass compound and an orange pad for your PC and compound away. Thats what I did, and worked PERFECTLY... it was like I had a brand new windshield!

I do it once every 2 months, in fact, today is the day!

Glad that helped. On some level I think there is some actual glass that has been worn away by the wipers so it may never be perfect again. I really like that Glass Science combo. You don't realize how dirty the glass is until you've used that Glass Scrub.
