tinting question

Is it safe to tint the back window?, my past experience is that over time it creates bubble or gaps along the defroster lines since its not all smooth in the back because of defroster..

Re: tinting question

If you use your defroster a lot it will create bubbles. If you have a coupe you need to tint the back window or the back seat is going to get very hot for passengers since the window is directly over their heads. I don't know about the sedan. Also if you only tint the sides it's not going to look too good.

Re: tinting question

A high quality tint and a professional installer that uses a special adhesive designed for the defroster lines/dot matrix pattern will not result in bubbles. Just ask for a lifetime warranty against bubbling. If they don't offer it to you, go elsewhere.

"If you use your defroster a lot it will create bubbles." i have to disagree w/ you there....the defroster emits very little heat while the sun can dish out a lot more...you should worry more about the fade/bubbles from the sun than the defrosterline doing damge

Re: tinting question

You need not worry about the defroster causing bubbling in the film. The reason many cars out there have purplish and bubbling tint is because of the install and not the nature of the defroster. I've been tinting for over 6 yrs now and have never had anyone come back w/ bubbling, fading, or peeling issues. Most of those cars out there that you see bubbling are done at those "$99" tint jobs. You really do get what you pay for. Just ask the dealer what type of warranty they carry for the tint. I recommend the following film companies: Madico (which is what I use exclusively), Formula One / Llumar (F1 uses high-end Llumar film), Solargard, and Huper Optik.

Just beware of those inexpensive tint shops. They can afford to do it so cheap because a lot of them don't have proper training and experience.....plus, the tint is also much cheaper....helping them reduce the cost of doing business. Good Luck!
