How easy is it to use the Porter Cable?
I've done tons of searches on the Porter Cable 7424.
For some time, I've been contemplating using it myself. Problem is, I've never machine polished my car and am worried about doing more damage to my car.
I guess my question is how hard is it to use the PC7424? Keep in mind, this will be my first time and I'll be using instructions I found on the net and autopia.net.
I just need some guidance and reassurance guys. Help me out!

It's pretty really easy. Not much force needed.. only to guide the pc in a direction. It's kinda idiot proof.. If I could do it, then I'm pretty sure more than half of the world's population could do it too lol.
Its an idiot proof. here is great diy..

You can find similar compounds, polishes, and waxes that can be used as alternatives. What is useful is the speed settings recommended for each pad/liquid.

Thanks for the reply guys! You're slowly building up my confidence.
I don't know why but I feel like I'm gonna do more harm than good to my car. I know I can take it to a detailer but I figure its a good time to learn how to do it myself.
It just like all the maintenance I do. I was scared to even change my own oil. But after I forced myself to try it, it wasn't so bad at all.

In general, the PC is easy to use for basic polishing. Its limitations are the experience of the user, and knowledge of the various pads and compounds as well as techniques.
I know some people that can screw up an oil change!
