Debadging

I want to debadge the trunk and put the skyline 350gt emblems. If i remove the infiniti symbol, will there be mounting holes under or is it just stuck on with glue like the "infiniti" and "g35"?

Re: Debadging

Nope, no screws under Mt. Fuji.

You will need dental floss and a hair dryer.
Be carefull, I got a blister on my finger rolling the glue off with the hair dryer.

Good Luck

Re: Debadging

u don't realli need a blow dryer.. it does help tho.. it realli depends on how new ur car is.. if you're had your car for a while, then i'd definitely recommend using a blow dryer.. if not, then u can jus go ahead and jus use dental floss.. it wuz pretti easy for me since i did it about 2 weeks after i got my car..

Re: Debadging

A hair dryer works, but gasoline works faster to get the goo off.

The hard part is getting under Mt. Fuji to pry it off. Careful on prying because the other part of the emblem can dig into the paint and leave a simi circle indentation. I caught myself about to do that. I slid a razor under the emblem to fatigue the dougle stick and get the emble lose enough to get my nails under it. Then soaked the rest of the double stick with gasoline and rubbed right off.

Re: Debadging

maybe long exposure. I've never had problems using gasoline to remove things. I completely removed all the stickers on my bike using gasoline and after 4 years the paint still looks new. Rather you use it or not make sure you wax the area well.

Re: Debadging

i've never actually heard of gasoline being used.. WD40 is the most common solution i've heard mentioned..

either way, wutever works works.. everyone has their own methods..

Re: Debadging

I might debadge mine this coming week as my Skyline 350GT emblems along with clearcorners are on the way. So the easiest thing to do is use the blowdryer to blow at the emblems and then use dental floss to take it out? then use WD-40 to get rid of the rest? Then, how do i along the new emblems right? anything that can help me with alignment?

Re: Debadging

The 350GT emblem is easy to align because it has its own template. The Skyline and Nissan logo emblem is a little bit tricky, you have to find the center trunk lid (vertically by measuring the top and bottom edge) and then line up the emblems on the center of the line. What I did was, I used the existing Infiniti logo and emblems as a reference point and measured the distances from the top and bottom, or you can use a template to make sure it is centered. Good luck.

Re: Debadging

good idea on the gasoline! I tried paint thinner, acetone and goo gone, and it was a pain in the butt!

Re: Debadging

Let me get this sraight. You would use the blow dryer to soften the goo. Then, you would use the floss to peel the goo/emblem off? Clean off leftover goo with gasoline or wd40? I just wanted to make sure I understood the process. Let me know guys. Thanks.
