Oh, nice, good thing I already had my dinner! ! Be thankful it hit the car and not your head! I have an airhorn I use to run birds off, damn, we have so many blackbirds this time of year, looks like a Hitchcock movie!

Re: Freakin birds

ABQ_G35, I went to school in Cruces. Couldn't get any sleep down there this time of year thanks to all the black birds. I think the shiny hood is like a bull's eye to the birds, I guess they hit the target.

I live next to a golf course here, and I have never seen so many damned blackbirds, I would never leave my car in my driveway this time of year, for sure, it's always in the garage! And, yep, they are noisy as hell, I have seen like 150 in my trees at times, all chirping! That's when the air horn comes out, all it takes is spooking one bird, and they all go!

Re: Freakin birds

Firecrackers, gunshots, and CDs of birds cawing distress calls. Ahh, the sounds of Vandy in the fall. There were SO many damn birds that the groundskeepers were always driving around in their golf carts with CDs of distress calls and handfulls of firecrackers to toss into the trees. I don't know which was more annoying...

The only problem I have when I'm washing is random leaves falling from the trees. I'd go dry up one end of the car and come back to the other to see a leaf sitting on there, leafing(sic) a nice print on the hood that was freshly washed. Argh.

Re: Freakin birds

What kind of tree are those leaves off? The only time I have ever gotten any marks from leaves, is when some have fallen on the car that were wet, and sat there overnight!

Re: Freakin birds

I believe it's a maple-- but they fall (with dew, residual moisture) onto the car and leave a little leaf-shaped wet spot that I have to carefully buff out.

On a lighter note, a bird almost shat in my sunroof today. I noticed a barely-missed drop about 1cm from the open sunroof. Boy howdy I would've been pized.

Re: Freakin birds

Worse than the falling leaves are those damn trees that sweat tree sap and leave your car covered in little "pellets" of sap. It definitely gives your car a "shine", but it plays hell on the paint and doesn' t come off too easily.

As for bird "splats", what color car seems to get hit the most? I vote for black because my black Acura Legend and my Black G always seem to get bombed (and it didn't matter where I was parked either...under a tree or way out in the open).

Re: Freakin birds

We had a maple in our yard, right by the driveway when I was a kid, the main trouble I had was sap, spring and fall, but it was always water soluble, we did have trouble with the leaves staining the concrete though! Oh, and the bird crap and the sunroof, when I had my convertible, got one in the back seat, geez was I pissed!!!
