Overspray

I had my bumpers repainted and the idiots at the body shop got some clear coat overspary on my rims and a little on the fenders. I tried some 3M Finesse it on my rims (Chrome ADR Sterlings) and it was really hard to get off. Oh yeah it's on the grill a little too.

Is there anything else I can use that won't damage the rims and paint? I am going to make them detail the car since I have to go back Monday anyway to colorsand/buff the bumpers, but in the meantime the overspray is bugging the crap out of me.

Re: Overspray

I had the same deal when I had mine repainted-- I just used claybar and it ended up actually working very well. Smooth as a baby's behind. Can you see the overspray, or just feel the texture?

Re: Overspray

It's just clear coat overspray as far as I can tell. I can't see it on the paint, just feel it.

What about the rims and grill? I'm afraid of scratching them.

I'm hoping these guys make good and do a good job with the colorsand/buff. Right now it looks kind of shatty. I should have waited until after finals. I really don't need the stress!

Re: Overspray

My dealer did the same thing; they took it to an off stie shop to fix a couple of nicks and got overspray on the hood and front fenders. Took it back and they denined that it was anything they did. They did offer to correct the problem for $90.00. Thanks but no thanks, I'll do it myself!

Re: Overspray

When my car was new, there was some overspray on parts of it, I think when they sent it to the tint shop, but they clayed it, and it's fine now!

Re: Overspray

Bumpers should always be painted off of the vehicle.
