Water Dist.says no driveway car washing

Beginning 1-2004 the Las Vegas Water District says you can no longer wash your own car in the driveway...it must be done at a carwash that recycles water . Suddenly there's a drought here but the weather doesn't seem much different then 13 years ago...maybe all the uncontrolled growth!!!
Guess I'll have to find a handheld spray wash or just take my chances? Pingo

This is why you should live in a gated house with a garage not visible from the street Of course, I don't live in one here, but still...

I don't think LV is set up for the utility drains it's about to face from the rapid growth. Time will tell...

Maybe Infiniti would be willing to buy me and the the family an estate and make a commercial of us washing the cars ! Of course most of the attention would be on the coupe...and how we owners live for it! ....Pingo

Re: Water Dist.says no driveway car washing

Funny what are they going to do about it? I'm going to wash my own car anyway.

I've only washed ny G about 3 times since I've owned it anyway. A nice California Car Duster and bottle of Quick Detail is so much easier.

What are they going to do if I wash my own car? Arrest me? HAH!!!! I think NOT!

I can just see it on the news. "Local Las Vegas resident arrested for washing his own car". Nobody can possibly enforce that nonsense.

I'll be on t.v. in a high speed chase after some punk cop tries to harass me for washing the G. I'm going to up the washes just to laugh in some pigs face.

Re: Water Dist.says no driveway car washing

I live in FL and we had very similar rules during our recent drought

I always washed my car after hours to avoid the 9-5 code enforcer

I also did alot of research and found that those car washes that recycle cannot actually recycle that much water, at least here. They have a tank and that tank gets filled very quickly then everything else goes into the drain

I figured out that the way I wash my car takes less water than the touchless washes and the hand held wand ones. I have a hose that turns off when I am done spraying (nozel that is)

When a car is waxed/cg whatever well then it takes very little to do a wash

I tried but got nowhere but It may help to have the water district investigate car washes and see if their regulation is really true.

Personally I feel it is a way to boost car wash busnies and generate more taxes

Have a healthy day!

Just do what I do, I use dionized water, that I buy in gallons, and use a good garden pump sprayer to wash the car, I do use the tap water to wash my wheels and tires, then rinse with the de-i water, but could use it there too, would just take more is all! A plus, is no hard water spots!!!

The water cops will report you and they can add a fine to your bill...after they videotape you doing it..if you don't pay it....they can shut off the water if they want. I was told I was wasting water on my yard and they sent me a tape after they sent one of the wrong house...turned down the sprinklers a little but never heard any more about it...Pingo

So people are being employed to run around with videocameras in government cars, tape people with new camcorders and tapes, paying to SEND those tapes to them, etc. and they're telling US we're wasteful... Nice. Chalk one up for the gov't.

Re: Water Dist.says no driveway car washing

This is ridiculous, washing the car doesn't use that much water, well, unless you let the hose run without a nozzle or anything, I now do the biggest part of mine like I mentioned earlier, and my water bill hasn't changed! Sometimes I wonder about this water thng anyway, here you see the city constantly wasting water, they say you can only landscape a small percentage in "high water" use planting (ie:grass lawns) then, they turn around and build a new baseball park, that has acres of bluegrass, in front, "do as we say, not as we do"!

Re: Water Dist.says no driveway car washing

Yeah I live on the golf course at LV Country Club. It's nice, but that is nonsense. I'm sure they waste a ton of water keeping this course green year round.

Curious how someone could be lurking with a video camera to tape you washing your car. Personally I would review the tape and determine who taped me (some assinine neighbor probably). After skull cracking the damn fink, I'd proceed to waste hundreds of gallons of water washing their itty bitty skull fragments down the gutter.

I don't think they employ "water cops". It has to be nosy neighborhood spies. Most likely old retired tree hugging liberal crybabies who waste more water every day by not tightening their shower faucets.

Re: Water Dist.says no driveway car washing

They have water district employees who drive around and look for water wasting...and then film it and or report you.
The truck says "water enforcement" or something like that on it. The water district also does have a tipline to report waste and then they will come out and look at it....I think the County Commision approved all this....and some of them are the biggest water users for their homes according to a news report ! I also heard that golf courses,etc.. use non-potable water (not safe to drink) so they can get away with using all the water? Pingo

Well, they do that with the Balloon Fiesta Park here, it's nice and green, the water comes from a computer chip plant, I believe!

O.k. here is the solution to this... When you see the truck proceed with the following steps.

1. Raise either hand high in the air
2. Proceed with the 1 finger solute
3. Rotate body 180 degrees
4. Drop pants and "smile" for the camera

Even better, combine the above procedure with the following:

Wear a "Frank" mask while washing your ride and tell the H20 Hippies "I can do anything I want."

And people laugh when I tell them I'm from Louisiana...

Yeah...we're backwards, elect crooks, have no education system to speak of...but by God, I can wash my freakin' car whenever and however I want!!

I think if I'm paying for the water, I'll use it how the f**k I want...I bet y'all have a democrat for a mayor over there.
