using a sponge to wash a black g35c, bad?
using a sponge to wash a black g35c, bad?
i was told that a sponge to wash your car is fine, but then i heard others told me it traps dirt and will leave scratch marks on your paint, sigh, is this true? if so, what do you guys recommend in place of a sponge, the sponge i got says "good for washing cars" so i thought it would be safe, please help me on what to use.

I hope you're joking. I used to use a sponge and a hose to wash my old White 1995 Pontiac Grand Am SE. But this was before I knew anything about swirl marks. Do yourself and your car a favor and read this forum, then go buy a microfiber washmit, chamoi, a bucket or two, and some autowash. Use the sponge on your rims.

you can use a sponge, just as long as you clean it (spray with stream of water) after washing every single body panel, that way it stays clean and no dirt gets trapped in it.

He won't be happy using a chamois on a black car, I didn't even like using it on a dark red car I had, I switched to a "water blade" much better!

Sponges and mitts can scratch your paint. I highly recommed the following.... www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?L1=L1_1000&L2=L2_1001&SKU=66073

I have a mit for the car and a sponge for the wheels. I was using the absorber to dry but I've decided to jump on the leaf blower band wagon. Haven't tried it yet but it seems to work for everyone else.

I use a sponge only when the car needs to be washed down with carwash soap because of rain mud. I usually just hose down the car, carefully removing any stains that can be taken out by hand. Then I just use the absorber to dry it off and my leaf blower to remove excess water. The leaf blower is a big help specially with the rims, sideview mirrors, door handles head and tail lights.

I finally got to use my leaf blower. It's great! It only cost about $30, dried my entire car in less time than the absorber, and it's touchless. It's a must for black cars.
