I don't think you are supposed to wash it at all. You can use it for a good solid year+ after that, just buy a new one. they're like $12 at target.

 

If I use the california car duster on my black 08 car, will it leave spiderweb marks? I read somewhere that they do and are only suppose to use it once,twice a month or after a short drive.

 

If used correctly, it will not marr the surface. It should only be used for light dusting, and just barely dragged across the surface, not scrubbing. If it rains, the duster should not be used until a full wash has been performed

I have had many black cars and always use my duster. If you get any lines, etc from the grime you can use a micro fiber cloth and some quick detail spray.

 

Where do you guys buy yours? The Sears by my house is out of stock and I have no idea what other place sells them, besides buying them online.

I think it recommends soft soap so I washed mine in a bucket of warm water with woolite. It seems to work the same..

 

NOOOOO! Cold water only! You'll strip off some of the paraffin wax

 

I bought a new one a few weeks ago and I still have all the tags. When I get home I'll see what they recommend when washing it.

 

Don't use it if your paint surface is warm/hot from the sun. Then it will leave streaks of wax on the paint, which look worse than the dust. I've never cleaned a car duster, just throw them out after 2 years or so.

I've also tried a quick detailer & MF towel, but that takes about 4 times as long as the car duster.
