Leaf Blower works Great!

Tried my leaf blower on my black coupe. Gets water off fast and no marks as with a chamois. I'm sold...thanks for the tip!

You guys are serious with the leaf blower? I tried that once several years ago, didn't save me any time, when you figure getting the cord out and all, besides, if it's one you use in the yard, you have to be really careful there is no crap inside the blower!

$30 at Sears for an electric blower. You're right it doesn't save any time but for darker colors you can't beat it. It's touchless and actually gets every little bit of water off.

Re: Leaf Blower works Great!

I used to use a compressor to blow water out of the nooks and crannies I had in an '97 F-150 I had, and on my Mustang, those things had a lot of places were water would come out, this G is so much better! I might buy a blower and use it just for that purpose! Do they make a cordless one? I sometimes wash my car across the street from my house for the shade!

I just use my Cali Water Blade....and then use a cotton or microfiber towel to dry up the spots I missed.

That's what I do myself, that water blade gets rid of most of the water, and the microfiber really absorbs the rest!

Re: Leaf Blower works Great!

I was told not to use gas-powered because some blowers use the actual blowing tube to exhaust it's exhaust. So now you're blowing oil and gas particulate onto your freshly washed vehicle.

See, that's what I mean, especially if you used the vac feature, you smell like "exhaust" since it is obviously getting onto your clothing!

For a cheaper alternative, you can do what I do (if you have a major street near you w/ not too much traffic): take a short/quick spin down the street and back at around 60 mph (carefully, of course), right after washing--blows most of the water off pretty good, just like a leaf blower. Then it's just a quick wipe-down with the Absorber and dry cotton or microfiber cloth (if you're me) and you're good to go!

Re: Leaf Blower works Great!

I do the quick ride thing if I'm not planning on waxing afterward or I don't have time to dry. You need to be real careful taking your car for a drive when it's wet and then wiping it with the absorber or something similar. Your car, when wet, will pick up a lot of dirt and then your wiping it with that dirt on it.

Basically if you're going to "drive-dry" it I wouldn't wipe it down afterward, just drive it long enough to dry it.

Re: Leaf Blower works Great!

That's a good point I forgot to mention, Russ. I only do that if the roads are completely dry, of course, and I always check the front end and lower panels carefully before drying it for any of that dirt or other road grime. Also, I dry the car from top to bottom as a precaution to accidentally getting any unwanted stuff on the Absorber or cloth.

Re: Leaf Blower works Great!

I tried this and had lackluster results. The sun was drying the car before I could get the water off with the blower. I ened up re wetting the car and using a towel.

Any dust or dirt that happens to get sucked into the blower will be driven into your paint at like 150 MPH.

A shop Vac blows much less (that sounds dirty) but at least the air is filtered.
