Who has had paint/body work done?
Hey everybody - I'm just poking around to see what different peoples experiences have been with getting body or paint work done. I'm going to have a significant portion of my car re-painting and am curious what the outcome will be (maintenance, quality etc).

Had my front bumper redone last summer, was very pleased with the results.
I took it to a body shop that does high end repair/painting. Ferrari's, Maserati's etc.
Took about a week, but the final product was excellent. Since I have Ivory Pearl, which is one of the harder colors to match, I was quite pleased. To me, the repaint looked better match wise than the original paint.......

Just be careful who you take it to. The idiots at two different shops that have worked on mine have managed to do the following:
1st shop: Replaced rear bumper damaged in accident. Idiots set something metal on trunk lid. Various scratches which needed rotary buffing to remove.
2nd shop: Did a nice job on hood and fenders damaged by hinge failure. However, they decided to be "nice" and buff my whole car with what seemed to be a grinding wheel. Horrible swirls instilled over entire car. Even worse, they managed to burn through the paint by the rear wheel well in two spots.
Moral of story: Be very careful and document the condition of your paint before giving the car to them. Take pictures. Don't let them take it through an auto car wash. Don't let them buff the car unless you are confident that they know what they are doing.
