Car Color & Wax Selection
I've read these posts for a while and I've yet to see any mention of choosing your wax based on car color. I'm new to the forum and my G, but not to detailing. Different finishing products do make a difference on how the car looks. I learned most of this from my favorite detailing site on the web www.properautocare.com, and from my own experiences. Here's a quick run down.
There are basically 2 types of finishing products, polymers(synthetics) and carnaubas(natural wax). Polymers are basically highly reflective and are great for lighter colors (white, silver, champagne, etc) because they show the color as very bright. Depth of shine is really hard to achieve with light colors. Using these on dark colors can give a sterile, flat look to the finish.
Carnaubas, and polymers that are designed to give a carnauba-like finish, give dark colors (black, red, blue, green, etc) a wet, shimmery finish with lots of depth. For dark colors, this is usually the desired look. On lighter colors, carnaubas can hender the reflection.
Don't get me wrong, what you want to see in your finish is what you should have. Not everyone can see this difference. If you like your look, stay with it. But, if you have a dark car, you should really try products like Pinnacle Souveran, Blackfire (which is my favorite - hence my user name), or P21S. Souveran and P21S are both pastes. Blackfire is a liquid, and properautocare.com has affordable kits with everything you need.
For lighter colors, it's been my experience that Zaino and Klasse give the same type of finish. Also, Pinnacle Paste Glaz is good for those that like to use a paste.
