Well, I wanted ask those of you who washes their car themselves about what products they use and what rags they use?

I just went to Wal-Mart and purchased the list below:
1. two packs of micro fiber towels. (12 a pack)
2. Turtle Wax ICE Car Wash
3. Meguiar's All Wheel Cleaner
4. Micro fiber sponge for washing the car
5. and finally a micro fiber wheel detailer

I don't plan to put the wax today cuz I'm waiting for the PC that I bought from Amazon.com to show up at my door.

Also, about the Zaino products, which ones do you recommand? and how about the Poorboys?

Thanks!

Sheepskin mitt
Zaino car wash
Zaino Z8
Zaino leather cleaner
Are you seeing a trend?

For drying, white high-end cotton towels, that get washed separately and dried with no softener etc.
For polishing I use Zaino Z2 and CS

+1 on the Zaino route:

On the exterior I use:
Z-7 Car Wash w/ sheepskin mitt
Sonus Waffle weave microfiber towels (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-dwdt-2.html)
Z-2 or Z-5 polish with ZFX
Z-6
Z-CS
Z-16 Tire dressing
Z-12 Glass polish

On the interior:
Z-9
Z-10

You may want to look into the "ultimate protection" kit as this has most of the products listed above. One note, you can use Zaino with a PC but you will probably end up wasting a fair amount of product since a little Zaino goes a long way.

As far as the Poorboy's products go, I have never used them but I hear and see good things.

G35Now!, I seem to notice the same trend in products here....

Thanks for the inputs! I sure do appreciate your comments.

Now, I see both of you are using the sheepskin mitt to wash your cars... Where/how do I purchase one? Also, should I just go and return the things that I bought from Wal-Mart?????

I actually prefer, and have been referred to, to use microfiber sponges over anything else. For drying, I would highly recommend a Meguiar's Waffle drying towel (it's pretty big and it's orange. It'll dry the car amazingly with just that one towel. You hardly have to wring it out too). I don't use anything but microfiber towels on the car too. Same for the wheels. I know there are a lot of "aftermarket friendly" brushes for wheels. But I prefer to just wash the wheels by hand with a seperate bunch of microfiber towels that I have for my wheels alone.

Not familiar with Zaino. Although I've heard nothing but good stuff about it. I use Meguiar's products. Processes are quick and work very well. Zaino is more high end and actually protects longer. However, the process of application is longer in itself.

Poorboys is good stuff too. I know many pro's that use their stuff.

I use a DA polisher with Meguiar's stuff. I'm extremely content with the final product every time. Each is different, try around. But since you're going with Zaino first.. I'm sure you'll be sticking with that for a while.

Good luck

you can purchase sheepskin mitts online or autoparts store brands like mothers or meguairs too.

oh yeah.. and I kind of fear "all wheel cleaners" including Meguiar's. I prefer just to use a seperate soap/water bucket for the wheels, and the car.

Check this link out....

I use the 2 bucket method, several different (labeled "U" - upper and "L" - lower) sheepskin mitts, and mostly use Zaino products... car wash, Z5 PRO with ZFX, Z-CS, ZAIO on occasion, Z6, Z8, etc. I'll also occasionally use Pinnacle Souveran, and Megs #16 to top Zaino once in a while if I'm looking for extra depth on my wife's black car. Also use the Zaino stuff intended for leather (9 & 10) and their tire dressing (smells like Double Bubble!) Great products, and they're long lasting....

What products are you using with the pc? I don't see any worth using the pc with. If you're considering buying Zaino, return the pc, you won't need it. If you're going to use the pc, might want to look into Poorboy's (they have a good Polish w/ Sealant) or Chemical Guys (good AIO and others you might have to figure out).

Before you do any waxing (LSP), I'd recommend getting a claybar and clean the paint with polish before sealing and protecting it.

and don't forget to clean the wheels 1st, before you wash the car.

Good Luck!
