Auto Dry Car Wash!

Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
Did you guys just get it at the store? On the Mr. Clean site, it says it will be available Feb. 1.
I need to do something to my car this weekend so I can take pictures of it, and this sounds perfect. Or I'll probably just take it to the touchless car wash up the street and try to get the water off before it freezes!![Smilie](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
Ok I used it last night and heres what I have to say.
First yeah they had it at a normal store. Took a few stores to find it though.
I used it and thought it worked great. However there are a couple of things I noticed. 1, I think the darker the car the harder it will be for it to work good and 2, dont clean your car when its windy (haha). By time it dried there was already dust piling up on it.
Basically I used it, rinsed, then while I was letting it dry I cleaned my wheels with a normal sponge and rinsed. Took the car around the block, came back, and toweled off some spots that were taking longer to dry. The drivers door dried pretty bad actually, but I think that might have been partly my fault for not washing/rinsing effectively enough. I just put a LITTLE water on my big blue towel and rubbed all the watermark off and its perfect. Normally it takes 1:45 for me to fully do my car and using this I cut it to 45 minutes (not having to do the windows after washing the car helped too). When I took the car out and the remaining water flew out of the cracks, I'd say 90% of it dried clear. All in all, there are still WAY less spots than when I dry my car with a towel.
Now the question is how long will the filter last.

Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
I found the refill kits at Autozone for $5.99 each for the soap and filter. They had the 20% off deal going this weekend also.
The refill filter is supposed to be good for up to 10 washes. It looks like the soap will last about the same.
Rain-X does seem to prevent the sheeting action, also.

If it has made it to Alabama, every place else in America should have it.

Or New Mexico, there are so many things that are impossible to find here, I think some people still think this is another country!

Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
Hey how many washes are you guys getting out of the filters?
I only got about 2.5 out of the one it came with. It was still streaked pretty bad after the 3rd time washing it. I'm hoping the replacement filters work a HELL of a lot better or else I'm not wasting my money on them anymore.

Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
The first one’s only supposed to work for ~3 washes, depending on your water hardness. Mine crapped out on the third car too. The replacement is supposed to work for 10 washes.

Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
I’m pretty sure that there’s something in the Mr. Clean soap that allows the filtered water you rinse with to sheet off of your car instead of beading. Then, when you do your final rinse w/ deionized water, most of it sheets off your car, and what little remains has nothing in it to leave a residue.
If you have a reverse osmosis system, then you could do a final rinse with that and you should be ok. I’m not so sure if you have a water softener. I’ve never had one, but I think they’re just ion exchange units, meaning that I think it just swaps one dissolved material in your water for another one. You might want to test it on a different car first. Personally, I just use the Mr. Clean system.
