CD Scratch test
CD Scratch test
Hi y'all
Did a quick test on my towels and mits...
used old cds to see how much hey scratch the plastic...the microfiber towel couldn't scratch the plastic at all while the sheepskin wash mits that I got (not cheap ones) scratched the crap outof the cd plastic...they are micro scratches but still there, and I even tried a brand new mit...
So a quick question...
Which is stronger? CD plastic or car clear coat? and how accurate would this test be?

Dry sheepskin will almost always scratch clearcoat/plastic, but that isn't the way you use them. Mix up some wash solution in the proper dosage, and drench the mitt, and then run it across the CD with normal wash pressure and see if it scratches the CD then

1) CD Scratch Test- with a micro fibre cloth, using medium to heavy pressure rub the data surface of a CD. If no scratching is evident then it probably won’t scratch the vehicles paint surface, be aware that the bindings can also cause scratching. On first use of a towel use it on an inconspicuous area first.
2) Burn Test- to test a material for polyester content, light a thread, if it emits a black wisp of smoke and then shrivels up into a black hard ball, its polyester and will probably scratch your paint.
