First full detail
Yesterday 1:00pm to 9:30pm and today 1:00pm to 5:00pm, I spent detailing my G.
This was my first detail. First time using the porter cable or any polisher at all, and first time using so many products. All I did before is was and hand wax.
These are steps I took...
1. Z-7 car wash
2. Tried to use Z-15 clay bar, but it wasn't picking anything up. (car is 6 months old) Thought I was doing it wrong so I tried it on my beater, and it picked up tons of stuff.
3. PC with orange pad and Pinnacle XMT Fine Swirl Remover #2
4. PC with white pad and Pinnacle XMT Fine Swirl Remover #1
5. PC with GRAY/BLACK pad and Poorboy's EX Sealant with Carnauba
6. Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal
Not perfect, but like I said this is my first time doing anything like this.
Before I had tons of huge swirls everywhere, especially on my hood from a car wash I went to and from dealer washing it.
Also, I found some great microfiber towels at WalMart. Yes, WalMart. I was saving my Cobra microfiber towels to use at the end, but I ended up just using WalMart ones. They are very, very close to the softness of cobra miracle towel, except they are not 10 dollars for one, but 4.96 for a pack of 12 (only six are good ones though)
This is what they look like...
They come with yellow and pink, or yellow and blue towels. The yellow ones are the good ones, blue and pink are pretty crappy. One thing is though, you have to shake off little loose fibers before you use it first time.
Question for who did something like this before.
When I was applying polish, dry little dust like polish particles were flying all over my car. Is that normal or was I doing something wrong?

I applaud you for getting out there and learning properly.
Looks like your results yielded a 95%+ success rate.
Re: your question, yes, dusting when using products is a pretty common thing, especially when the ambient temperatures are warm. Some polishes have minimal and usually compounds have the most. After a while, you will get the hang of how much to use.

Thank you. I am glad I did this. definitely worth it.
Yeah there was tons of dusting. I did stay in the shade, but it stll was in high 80s.
Before I moved to sealant I whiped it all off my car. Is that really necessary? I was afraid that if I put sealant over it, it will be harder to remove.

Haha thanks guys!
I just figured out that I was moving PC way too fast. It should be like 1/2 inch a second, but I was moving it about 2 inches a second or more.
This weekend I think I will do my girlfriend's car. It will be good practice.
My plate has little history too...sort of.
I've always loved the G since I first saw it, but I wasn't able to afford one. So when I would be driving with my girlfriend and I see one I would go "OMG G35!" and point. Haha. I still do that to coupes, because they are rare here.
