Does anyone know why my backing plate for the PC keeps coming off?

anyway, i tried to PC my car today with LC white pad as well as a Meguiars Yellow foam pad by using a backing plate. But after 30 seconds of use, the backing plate comes off the PC. I know im screwing it on as tight as i can but for some reason, it just wont stay on. Does this happen to anyone else?

How long have you had the PC?

Sounds like the threads are stripped or too small....

Agreed, I have not encountered this problem yet with a velcro backing plate. I can see where if it wasn't completely tight in the first place the vibrations could wear down the threads over time.

Did it work when you first got the backing plate?

I had the same thing happen. I don't know how this happened, but the nut where the backing plate get's screwed in looks like the threads stripped down. I looked on the Delta/Porter Cable site and found the replacement part it's part number 872991 called Spindle & Brng Assy.

Do yoy have a Porter Cable/Dewalt repair center near you?

I had to replace the speed control pot 2 years ago. I took it in to a Dewalt repair center and it was repaired for free. Lifetime warranty....
