Are clear coated wheels suppose to look like this?

Are polish wheels with clear coat suppose to look scratched up like this? I'm quite disgusted about the way the wheel looks right now. I've even considered painting the centers and chroming the lip. Any help would be great.

What do you wash/clean those with? I have had polished wheels in the past, but never with a clear coat. I would call iforged and ask them what is up with that. It doesn't look right to me.

I wash with only 100% cotton towel reccomended by zaino with zaino car wash soap. I've e-mailed iforged and the response was that "Scracthes on the clear coat and come from anything especially debris and rocks on the road. You can try to polish out the scratches." I mean how can clear coat be this bad? The finish on stock wheels show no scratching at all. It just makes me unhappy that I spent some good money on wheels and this is how they turned out.

i actually did not order iforged wheels because i did research and found out the polish finish and brushed finish sucked on them to get them painted if i were to get them..

Re: Are clear coated wheels suppose to look like this?

I have never seen polished wheels that were clear coated. I would get the clear coat stripped off/removed from a reputable polishing shop in you area. The wheels will be harder to maintain, but won't have those scratches in them. I would CALL iforged and tell them where to stick it. Tell them you will send them a picture and are considering a lawsuit for a less than satisfactory product.

Sorry about all your troubles!

If I stripped the clear coat, how do I prevent the high polish finish from oxidizing.

I was just looking at your pic again, are you sure that's in the clearcoat, and not the polished wheel itself? Where did you buy them, I would be back there with them if it was that bad! Not sure I'd want to have "bare" wheels with the brake dust issue! Which, by the way, I have been paying more attention to other cars, a lot of different nameplates seem to have huge brake dust deposits, similar to the G!

If you have the clear coat stripped, they will not "oxidize" per say. You can just hand polish them occassionally with some "Mothers". You need to find a good metal polishing shop and talk to them about what is going on.

Were the wheels always like that?

Re: Are clear coated wheels suppose to look like this?

When I first got them, I took it straight to the tire shop and had them put it on my car. When I first wash the car I've notice these tiny scratches (you can only see them in low light or flash). I mentioned them to vince at iforged and he told me that rocks and debris will scratch the clear coat. I'm a little disappointed that I have to shell out a couple hundred to fix this.
