Adhesive on Headlight

What is the best product/way to remove adhesive on your headlights. I ask because I have 3M tape residue from my eyelids and also some of the black headlight adhesive from when I took apart my lights.

It seems like goo gone or alcohol may damage the clear plastic and soap and water doesnt seem like it would be enough, especially for the black adhesive.

Thanks.

I'd try the goo gone, because it is a citrus cleaner. I wouldn't use rubbing alcohol or wd-40 for fear of fogging the lens. Then again, I am not sure what material the lens is made of. I just know that rubbing alcohol can fog some plastics.

WD-40 will not hurt the plastic lense......Should remove most of the sticky residue, then wax with either Plastic polish or car wax.

wd-40 didnt seem to be getting it off. I tried rubbing immediately and after leaving it on a few minutes to no avail. Might have to try the goo gone.

goo gone definitly works. I had a bunch of headlight seal melted all over mine, and what i did was place a paper towel on the sealant and let it stick to it. then i soaked the towel with goo gone, let it rest for a few minutes. got a microfiber towel and put some goo gone on that, removed the paper towel from headlight, and rubbed away the seal. no scratches or anything. good luck

^ seems a little extreme before trying a few more safer methods.

Try a claybar with some quick detail lubricant.
