Waxing over clear bra??
Waxing over clear bra??
For those of you with the clear bra that have had it on for a while what affect does waxing over it have on the finish? I wouldn't mind having a full hod clear bra but I love the mirror finish of freshly waxed paint. is it still possible to attain this finish with the clear bra material over the paint? Also does the clear bra get swirls in it like bare paint does and if so will wax take them out? Thanx Guys
Re: clear bra vs paint
You can just wax over it like regular paint (but try to avoid getting wax build up in the seam). Aerospace 303 protectant (look up on web) is also highly recommended to preserve and protect the clear bra.
As far as a full hood clear bra, and whether it will look as sharp as freshly waxed paint, the shine on clear bra will not be as sharp/mirror like as freshly waxed paint. It's not bad, but adding a layer of urethane (if that's the material)will have some negative impact on the shine (probably because "refractive" properties not the same). If you had two identical cars side by side, with same wax, you'd notice a difference.
There are trade-offs with having a clear bra. I have one on front of hood and front bumper, and am glad I have one. I personally would not go for a full hood clear bra, as the trade-off is not good in my view (chips on top of hood are not as likely to occur as on the front of the hood, and I can touch up any occassional chip on the top of the hood; whereas on the front of the hood/bumper, chips would be much more numerous).
