I was going to be a wise guy and tell the OP if he wanted to avoid messing up his bumper to just drive backwards.....

I would suggest some sort of protection. I had to repaint my front bumper after 2 1/2yrs due to all the nicks and chips from highway driving.

Now a year later, the front has been chipped a dozen or so times....but the body shop used a gray/white primer, so the chip isn't as visible.

If you want to protect your front end, don't hesitate, and put on a clear bra, or buy a vinyl bra for highway trips...

I didn't get it the second time around because I heard too many horror stories of the clear bra turning yellow on Ivory Pearl.

$800 is very expensive. I went to my local Infiniti dealership for a complete price of $299. I'll be getting mine done in a few weeks.

Plus if you're under factor warranty, they give you the loaner vehicle.

Heres my car. It has a full bumper clear bra, front section of the hood, and leading edges of the fenders covered. Really no point in posting a picture of something you cant see. It really does help. My bumper would be all chipped like my license plate frame if i didnt have it on.
