Re: got a freakin ding!

I had three dings removed by my dealer’s paintless dent repair service (or whoever they contracted). They were on two different body panels (2 from a shopping cart and one from a stray golf ball) and the cost was a flat $95. I’m very happy with the results, but I hope I never have to use them again! If its the rear quarter panel, then the paintless dent removal wont be able to do it. Unless you let them drill a hole into the door sill.

I got a quote from a body shop...$550. The have to take the panel off, take dents out and repaint the whole part.

If you go to a paintless dent removal guy, tell me what happens. Maybe I am wrong.

Re: got a freakin ding!

I hope that's not true. I have a ding right behind the passenger door and I was planning on getting it taken care of soon. I was even going to remove the inside panel before I took it in so they don't mess it up.

Re: got a freakin ding!

A,

I just had my first (and hopefully last) ding taken out of my '03 sedan. It was about the size of a quarter and "Denver Ding and Dent" removed it for $70. Those paintless dent removal places REALLY work. I've used them before on other cars too.

Good luck!

Re: got a freakin ding!

Paintless dent removal wont work for the quarter panel dings, because there is no hwere to get to it from the outside. If it was on the door, then the guy just gets to it by going through the top of the window opening and pops it out.

Yes, I was pretty pissed at this too. Someone please prove me wrong.

Re: got a freakin ding!

What if the ding is between the front and rear seats, then you should be able to do the paintless dent removal right?

Re: got a freakin ding!

If its anywhere on the door, then you can probably do it. If its anywhere on the rear quarter panel, then no you can't.

How is it in between?

Re: got a freakin ding!

It's directly behind the door so it's not quite the rear quarter panel.

Re: got a freakin ding!

On my MX6 I had dings on the rear quarter panel and all of them were removed via paintless methods. They went in from the inside, taking the interior panels off the vehicle.
