My G35 Sedan has been KEYED!
My G35 Sedan has been KEYED!
Hey All!
I woke up this morning to find my G35 keyed across the driver side. The driver's side passenger and driver door along with the front quarter panel is scratched!
Hopefully my insurance will take care of it. Does anybody know a reasonable cost to fix this scratch? I don't want to start shopping it around without knowing if the body shop is giving me the run around. I'd like the dealer to take care of it, but am not sure if that's the best deal.
Please email soon so I dont jam my fist through my driver's side window. I am so pissed it's not even funny.
Why would somebody do this? I mean in the big scheme of things, it's not the end of the world, but what did I do to deserve this? Sheesh.

Re: My G35 Sedan has been KEYED!
I"m sorry to hear about what happened to your car Lazlo...
This has been a worry for me ever since I've gotten my car. True, this car is not an elite top class car, but it does stand out, with it's distinctive exterior personality...
Hopefully you can find someplace safer to park it at night, perhaps in the garage...
However, if you live in a quiet house neighbourhood, why would anyone do this? The only people to stop near by would be neighbours, and they would not be so stupid as to scratch your car and risk you recognizing them ( for the sake of revenge)... perhaps someone followed you home, maybe from the office? **** anyone off lately?
Although this is a very bad thing to do already, at least he didn't pry open your gasoline latch and pour sugar into it...
cause then, the next morning when you start your car (unknowingly of what happened) your engine would be dead... no cures, no jokes...
Good luck with fixing your car,
and i hope you forget about this nasty disaster the moment you get it fixed...

Damn that sucks major chunks. The most cowardly thing to do is mess with someones car rather than talk to the person about your differences. Sorry to hear about it happening to you.
I would imagine that insurance would cover the cost of "repairs". If you have a large deductible then you might have eat the cost of the whole thing. Best of luck.
Drive safe, have fun, kick butt when necessary

Re: My G35 Sedan has been KEYED!
of all the things someone can do to you, keying your car is about one of the worst i can think of.. it shows a lack of respect for other ppl's property as well as envy.. you can't have it, so you have to ruin it... i absolutely cannot stand when somone keys someone's car.. there's really no meaning in it.. at least if someone breaks in to steal something, there's some sort of agenda.. they think there's enough value that they can get something from it monetarily.. but keying.. there's really no point.. it's an annoyance.. sometimes i wish i could just catch somone doing it.. doesn't matter who's car.. i just wanna catch someone doing it..
and if someone even dared to do it to mine... God help him.....

Hey KongzGx, We all feel for some poor soul who's had that done to them, and we've all got the same frustration. Sure I think to myself "man, if I ever catch.........." but really is some POS like that really worth it?
Much as you'd like to electrify the car or booby trap it with a flame thrower, hahaha, I think the only answer besides being very selective where you park, is to have Video Serveilance. It's been said that it's sometimes somebody you know that has a beef of some kind. So catch the SOB on tape. Then you can nail his hide to the wall.
Wouldn't be cheap but worth every penny for peace of mind.

Insurance will take care off it, less the deductable. Considered Vandalism. I would make the dealer take the first shot at repair, since they usually know the best shops to use. You would not believe how many NEW cars come scratched from shipping, we buy them without even knowing that they were repaired.

Re: My G35 Sedan has been KEYED!
actually.. i think it would definitely be worth it... (haven't u seen "fight club"... i think a lot of ppl want to be in at least one good fight in their life.. just gotta find a good reason) it would bring much pleasure to vandalize the person who desires to vandalize other ppl's property.. i mean, what are you gonna to do? vandalize his property? probably not worth it.. and if you catch him no tape, what's the worst they can do to the guy?
i think a little toughness would teach the vandalizer a lesson.. albeit, a personal one..
either that, or we should do what singapore does and cane these people. that'll make ppl think twice to even lean on your car or be extra careful not to open their car door into another car.. not to mention, stop vandalism cold..

Wow, I'm truly sorry to hear that. I can totally sympathise with you about this. A couple of years ago, I parked my girlfriends 4Runner down the street so that kids didn't have a hard time getting up my driveway and wouldn't you know, someone keyed it that night. Back in college, some jealous boyfriend did the same to my car after he saw me laughing it up with his girl at work. My car still has the scratch marks (with touch up paint) on it since I was a poor college student at the time and I don't want to invest in getting it fixed now.
It pissed me off and really angered me to think how someone can be so cowardly to damage someone else's property.
I hope you get this resolved quickly and keep it out of your mind like someone else suggested. I know it's difficult but It's good advice to heed so you can enjoy the car without worrying too much.
