Anyone know about convertible tops?

My sister just got a 350z roadster (2005) and I'd like to get some products to help her maintain the top. I've never done anything more than wash one, so I'm looking for products that work well and how I might use them.

Any recommendations?

Ragg Top products are my favorite for convertible tops. They have two kits. One is for fabric tops and the other is for vinyl tops. Find out what she has and buy the appropriate kit. Just be careful because some vinyl tops look very much like fabric.

I have also used the 303 products for convertible tops and find that at least with the vinyl tops Ragg Top seems to last longer and caused my old top to bead water.

Me. If its a fabric top, I use my car washing soap to clean and then wash it making sure there no soap left in it and the hit it with 303 Fabric guard. On vinyl. I use blue magic fabric top cleaner from the locally autozone and clean it with that.

I also recommend the 303 line of products for convertible top care. They have a convertible top cleaner which would be your prep step for either vinyl or fabric. Then you can use 303 High Tech Fabric Guard to protect fabric tops or 303 Aerospace Protectant on vinyl tops.

If you have any questions let us know.

Roadster Fabric Top Cleaning / Care:
http://www.detailuniversity.com/foru...detailing.html

Mildew / Mould:
Dirt and moisture are essential to mildew propagation, to eliminate the bacteria that create mildew: not allowing sufficient drying time for the fabric before applying a protectant can cause Mildew formation.
a) Use a medium soft brush and a 4:1 solution distilled water / ammonia and then rinse with cool clean water
b) For tough stains use a mixture of one (1) one teaspoon ammonia / quarter (1/4) cup Hydrogen Peroxide / three (3/4) cup distilled water and then rinse thoroughly with cool clean water

Heated water breaks down water-soluble soiling faster as it reduces overall chemical usage because it reduces the surface tension of the fibre. Heat acts as a catalyst promoting quicker reactions between chemicals and the soil.
