How long do I need to wait before I can wax after bumper repaint?

I just had my rear bumper repainted (mostly re-cleared after a section repair) 2 days ago, is it ok to wax it tomorrow?

I believe rule of thumb is wash after 30 days, and wax after 90 days. 3 days is too soon.

It all depends on the products the shop used.
If they used good clear coat and used heat treatment, you should be able to wax it after 2 weeks.(even less)
But talk to your shop.

i wouldn't touch it for at least a week and let the paint harden fully
(given that it's garaged). if it's a commuter probably better to
hand wash so that it can breath better.

hand wash only after a week, no wax no polish for at least a month.

Ask at the shop. I was told not to wax for a week, it's been 2 years since I had my bumpers refinished and they look perfect(except stone chips)

You can wash and even polish immediately. What do you think the body shop does? They don't give it to you dirty, do they? DO NOT WAX IT FOR AT LEAST 60 DAYS. It may be painful not to wax it, but resist the urge. New paint needs to outgass. There are chemicals in new paint that need to be released in order for the paint to cure and harden completely. If you wax the new paint, you will interfere with this process by preventing the outgassing. Your paint will likely stay very soft and will mar easier and will be harder to polish to a swirl free finish. Don't use Meguiar's Ultimate Detailer either. I was told by them that it will interfere with the outgassing of new paints. Oh, by the way, factory paint is different. You can wax right away because they heat the paint to such a high temperature that it does not need an extended time to outgas. Most body shops cannot do this for various reasons.

Technically, yes. Practically, no. Who really cares if something the size of a pencil eraser or smaller swirls easier than the rest of the paint?

I know... I had to do it this spring and into the summer. Hang in there.
