Question Clearbra on IP. Really worth it?

I have a new 08 G35 with IP paint. I know that the clearbra will help protect the paint from chips but typically I see the main issue being on darker color paint where the primer / wax filling in the knicks creates contrasting white spots.

With an IP color will the knicks even really show and justify the cost?

Where are most your chips? I am not sure I would want to have the hood done (maybe only bumper?). If you happen to have a pic of the knicks on the IP would you mind posting or emailing me? Thanks!

I have heard that over time the clearbra will actually fade to a yellow which really shows up on IP. Does anybody know if that is true?

I say horrible idea. I can't stand the line you see on the hood where it ends. That would drive me absolutely crazy - I'd rather have the occasional small chip. I've had my '07 for 11 months now (in Denver, no less, where the winter was brutal) and I only have some tiny chips that I can only see when I wash my car. Just my opinion, of course.

On IP when you get a chip what color is revealed below the chip mark?

deep chips show black if they cut down to the metal, while minor ones are barely visible. if you're hit by a rock or pebble while going fast, it could leave a thin line on your hood or bumper. it'll be barely visible though so its not a big deal unless you're really **** about such things.

I am assuming that the front bumper is plastic. So if the rock chips paint off past the primer the plastic is black then (as you said above)? On the hood it is aluminum so I assume that is what you would see there. Maybe it would be cheaper and more effective to consider only coating the plastic bumper area where most things hit...

I have a nearly new 07 with IP paint. I got the clearbra AFTER I got a nasty chip that looked like hell. I had it dressed out reasonably well and then had the bra put on. Since then, I have had rocks go WHACK into the front of the car and once mowed over a big bundle of wood (bundled branches) which exploded all over the highway when I hit it like a wood atom bomb going off.

Not a scuff, not a scratch. Seriously. No joke.

I am one happy clear-bra owner.

And half the fun of getting one is telling friends and family that you're going to have a clear-bra fitted!

Well worth the investment on ANY color!!

I had it on my Arctic White A4 for 3 years with no yellowing or chips!!

Made the dealer get one installed before I drove my G off the lot.

I can tell you with personal experience that your Ivory Pearl will show front bumper chips very easily as the bumper underneath is black. One nasty chip is all you need to show up at a distance. Mine has paid for itself many times over. No fading either.
