optimum car wax comment
Wondering if anyone else a fan of Optimum products. specifically their spray wax?
I insisted my dealer provide my new G35 UNTOUCHED by their prep crew except for the cars interior. This was in Nov. '05 when I picked up my Graphite Coupe and wanted to avod any nasty swirlmarks, etc. that only an underpaid dealer prep department my add to a factory cherry finish!
I took the car home, hand washed it and applied Optimum Car wax. Yikes, can anything this easy be any good? It takes 20 minutes, shines in my opinion like crazy and now I use it like a quick detailer which means I probably have 20 coats of the stuff on my coupe!
Great shine, absolutely no swirls or yellowing. Frankly I'm amazed when I see others going to such great efforts with multi step processes that seem to give no better results. Am I missing something? Hope not 'cause I just ordered a gallon of the stuff!
Wondering if anyone else using OCW and what their experience has been. Also, I hope this info is useful if for nothing else than suggesting you have your car dealer keep their hands off yor car with one of their untrained monkey's and a high speed buffer!

I have it too. It's ULTRA easy to apply. Almost TOO easy. It's supposed to be easy to apply and be a great compromise inbetween shine/longevity. I fully detailed my car about 1.5 months ago. I'm just observing how long this car wax lasts. They say it should last 2-3 months? I not sure. But the water still beads and the paint still feels really soft. I'm not quite sure how to tell when the wax is no longer on?
Well I look at it like if it takes 20-30 minutes max to apply just do it often enough to see a strong beading of water. As I stated I use it like a detailer ..... OFTEN ! If doin so causes any harm I sure have't seen any on my black paint.
Frankly, I think the guy who invented it is probably a genius. Check out his bio on the Optimum site and you'll see he has the credentials including a chemical engineering background with Dupont.
I've spoken with him on the phone and he assures me of te great UV protection OCW provides and it's 4-5 month durability. At 32 bucks (as I recall) per gallon I'll just keep sloshing it on!
