washer? Not sure if it's safe...but it probably won't do much in there. I use my carpet steam shampoo machine and all my mats turned out like new. You can get a Bissel carpet shampoo machine with tools for under $100.

For filthy mats, I start by thoroughly vacuuming them, then presoaking them in a 6:1 dilution of meg's all purpose cleaner + in a spray bottle, then agitating with a medium bristle brush, followed by a rinse with the hose. I've also occasionaly used a soak in the tub with laundry detergent. Then a good rinse and air dry. I wouldn't throw them in a washer though. I just use all season fitted mats now which are much easier to clean, and save the carpeting mats for special occasions

on my dd, i vac, then i use Griot's Interior Cleaner, aggitate with my
nylon brush a little, and wipe away grime with a paper towel. turns
out perfect each time.

You can put them in the washing machine, I have done this with other cars mats, never the G cuz it dosent get that dirty. You can get some black marks from the rubber on the mats hitting the washer so be careful.
