Paint Maint

This may be a dumb question but I keep reading about issues with Infiniti paint jobs - especially the red. Is there a good wax or coating I can apply to help protect against chipping. Also - what are people using on the leather seats - not looking for shine - just wanting to preserve and protect. Thanks

Hundreds of posts on this in this site; however, Lestrol is probably the best for the seats. It has deep conditioners and cleansers that work well. Griot's garage also sells excellent leather products.

With respect towaxes, there are 1000's of opinions here and they're all very valid. I hate waxing every 2-3 weeks or monthly, so I use Insulator wax (Colinate 845), which is a sealant used on marine boats and on electrical wires. You can go 6-9 months on one coat and it will bead even after a year. Excellent protector. the 845 works for me b/c on the East Coast we get alot of road salt and cinder for breaking down ice. these cause damage to the paint.

Read consumer reports, Epinion's.com and other places on this site for good advice.

Finally, my wife and I both bought black luxury sedans... she used the Zymol ($46 per small past container) and I used the Insulator wax. 10 years later, both cars looked identical in paint depth and shine after a waxing. Both cars washed and waxed weekly by me. not scientific but eye opening given how much various folks will argue their preference as if they're first born depended on it.

Good Luck!

Cimabeu,

Thanks for the info. Someone earlier suggested Zaino Brothers. So - I went ahead and ordered their Trip Kit - Z-Aio, Z-CS, Z-8. I also ordered their Z-10 "leather in a bottle". Got any opinion on this product?

Go to EPINIONS.com and you'll find tons of reviews from folks with experience in this area. What you bought is top of the line and showroom quality wax/products-- can't go wrong.

I see you're becoming as obsessed as the rest of us. Good luck, enjoy not only the ride but also the experience of babying this sexy machine.

If you want to prevent rock chips from damaging your front end. Get a clear bra. There are alot of wax out there and sealant out there too. Alot of people on here use Zaino products for both the interior and exterior. Another product you can use for the leather seats, is Lexol ph cleaner, conditioner and 303 aerospace protectant.

I go so back and forth with Zaino. Inside products are excellent...leather in a bottle I think is the best leather product I've ever used. As for their trip kit, I've never used the CS, but use AIO, Z2, Z6, and Z8. AIO I think is great, I've only used it a few times but have always had great success as a good non abrasive cleaner. Z2 I think is a great sealant, but doesn't have much pop too it and on a white car I typically need more to get the look I want...even after 3 coats with ZFX. Z6 is my favorite product they make. I think the best quick detailer on the market...sometimes I feel like I'm addicted to the smell. Z8 is also good, definitely gives a little more gloss but also harder to use. Just not sure its worth the money. On my white car you can't tell, but I also have a black car and if I don't use it right I can definitely see the streaks.

Long story short...you will never be dissapointed with Zaino I don't think as its a very clean look and no doubt makes the paint slick. My only complaint is that it lacks the depth that a good carnuaba can give you.
