best *QUALITY* microfiber towels

So judging by quality of the manufacturing ONLY, how would the towels in the poll compare, if you had to rank them? Any personal rankings?

I know everyone says all premium towels will be great and I agree, but I want to make one good towel purchase and can't really afford trying multiple vendors, $10 shipping a pop. I do ultimately want to try different towels, but it would be great to see peoples' opinions on what ORDER I should try these premium towels in.

*please do the poll but also, if you have an informed opinion, please post! and specifically, come up with a ranking if you can.*

EDIT: though a ranking of drying towels would be just as useful, I personally am more interested in what the best polishing/buffing towels are.

this is what i have used since i purchase my car over 4 years ago. i have 4 towels and they are great. if i wanted to, i can get away with only using 1 to dry the whole car, but i use 1 for the top and 1 for the bottom portions. i have 4 because i do not wash these with anything else. 4 in the washer is a waste of water but not as much as 2.

right.. I agree I'll be picking a pack of them up today or tomorrow. BUT I still will be buying premium towels for buffing off...I've made the PERSONAL (no flaming, no arguments needed) determination that higher quality towels are easier to work with, have lower risk of scratching, increased life, and are generally much more enjoyable to work with than the standard fare.

Hence, I'm looking for people who're like-minded and do regularly pay $3-7+ per towel...

I use the towels from Autopia. They have a deal called Der Wunder Towel trio which gives you two of each of the following:

- waffle weave drying towels
- buffing/QD towels
- polishing/glass towels

For $38 it is a good deal and the towels are top quality. Plus their customer service is first rate.

I get my towels from Danase, Pakshak, and Autogeek. Standard WW for windows; plush, ultra plush, ultra fine MF towels to detail; and foam core WW towels to dry.

I also have a 25 pack of MF towels from Sam's that are for my wheels and misc cleaning

We just got in our order of reTHICKulous towels at Detailed Image. It's the thickest towel that I've come across, perfect for quick detailing and final wipe downs. Here's a picture of it:

Weighs in at 5.4 oz per towel. Our Two Sided Ultra Plush Towel weighs 1.9 oz to give a comparison in additional fiber.

Picture of Ultra Plush:

Our Waffle Weave Towels and All Purpose Towels are on sale until the rest of the month at 25% off.

While on the topic, here's a link to how to properly care for your microfiber towels to get the most out of them and keep them fresher, longer.

If anyone has any questions about what towel to use during a specific application, please do not hesitate to ask. Different tasks work better with different towels.

George

I'm asking So what towels work better doing what tasks?

As far as I understand it, apparently really thick towels are best for "quick detailing and final wipe downs". I'm guessing because they are really thick they absorb dust better, making them better for quick detailing and getting rid of the pesky white residue from most waxes/polishes?

There are also towels with different 'weaves' on each side; one for buffing, one for polishing...could you tell us the characteristics of each 'type' of weave? i.e. what makes a towel better at buffing or at polishing or for final wipe downs vs. others, etc. I've seen both "ultra-smooth" and "ultra-plush" towels being marketed as final wipe-down towels.

So could you tell us how to identify for ourselves what each type of towel is best suited for?

ps. George I've seen your products highly recommended all over this forum, but I just couldn't bring myself to drop the coin for your rethickulous or ultraplushes this time..maybe next time. How are your $2.99 "All-purpose" towels when it comes to quality?

Thanks alot
