Car Covers...anything specific I should look for?

I have two cars, yet only one spot in my garage. Guess which car gets the garage space???

So my Acura gets the street. I live in on a street that is heavily tree lined, thus lots of dirt and bird shat are a commonplace for any car on my street. Especially now with winter here, I'm tired of washing my Acura every weekend even though I only drive it once a week. So I'm thinking of getting a car cover.

Now I've never had a car cover. Is there anything specific I should look at when I'm buying a car cover? In my basic research I have seen them anywhere from $50-300. Any previous experience would be appreciated. My Acura is old, so I'm not worried about protecting it like I do my G, more than anything I just want to keep it clean and give it basic protection from the weather.

I would not use a car cover on a vehicle kept outside, they will usually do more damage than good

Does it have the same effect as a bra...it basically turns into a huge piece of sandpaper?

yeah try to avoid them, and if you do end up getting one, get one thats water resistant, they sell some that absorb water like a sponge and makes your car all damp and nasty.

If a car cover does damage, it's because it doesn't fit properly. I bought a used OEM cover off of eBay for $50. If fits like a condom. Nice and tight. Even comes with a lock and a clear spot for the licence to show though.

If you want a cover, get OEM.

Car Covers.........not all the same!

I buy my familys car covers from California Car Cover and have for many
years. I have found that the Noha cover best suits my needs....light weight
and doesn't scratch our cars. When it gets wet you just shake it off and
you're good to go. Believe it or not my wife actually uses her cover. Everyone
at her work knows when she's there because her Vet is always covered.

I would get one that has the side mirrors in their own "holes". I had a previous car that the cover had holes for the mirrors and it fit great. When I bought my G35 cover it didn't have the slots fo the side mirrors and with a good wind it tries to blow off.

That's weird, my Sedan (2005) has the mirror cutouts. Does yours say "Infiniti" on the front hood area and have a clear windo for the rear licence plate?

So the consensus is that car covers are okay for our cars as long as we buy the right kind? Mine is a DD in the northeast and I wouldn't mind putting a car cover on it every night.
