Paint Scratches

My son did not pull our G35 car (black) into the garage all the way and when the door came down it left 6 vertical scrathes on the back of the trunk (thankfully no body damage). Any recommondations in the Washington, D.C./Maryland area for the paint fix. I know the dealer could do it, but they would also charge me dearly for the job.

Thanks

Re: Paint Scratches

Have you tried Mcguires scratch-X for a quick fix?... That stuff actually works very well. If they are very deep it might not work that great but my wife did the exact same thing to her Lexus GS 300 with scratches on the rear bumper and Mcguires made it look like new again. I have to reapply it every month or so but its alot cheaper than repainting and matching the whole rear bumper.

Re: Paint Scratches

Tired Scratch X but it didn't work. Went to my local body shop and it will cost me approx. $260 to have the back of the trunk repainted/clear coated and have a new emblem and lettering put on (apparently they have to take this off to paint and then once the emblem and lettering is removed, you cannot put reattach it without buying a new set).

Re: Paint Scratches

Thats cheaper than it would cost me to repaint my bumper....
my wife tapped me a few weeks back and the screw from her license plate (damn front plates!) put a chip the size of a pencil eraser right above the license plate area...

My body guy said he would have to blow the whole back of the bumper in to match the Ivory pearl paint....finished job $475.00.......I sucked it up and just used touch up paint until I decide if I want to go that route.....
I'm sure that you can have a like new car if your willing to put out the money to do it correctly....lots of luck....2old4this
