Car attracts lots of dust after wash...

After my last wash (i use meguires wash and i used their show glaze polish), i noticed a LOT of dust attracted to the car within about 5 hours.. What causes this?

It has happened before this too.. i especially notice this on the top of the car and the hood

It's the polish/wax, no avoiding it, except leaving the car in the garage, LOL, it is more noticeable on a dark color car, that's why I bought silver this time around!

Alot has to do with static charges from wiping and buffing the finish....Its hard not to have that happen....If you keep shaking the towel or rag you use to wipe the car it may help a little

GR8TG35,
Is it all static you think? I have always figured it was just because the wax was still "soft".

I would say to be fair its probably 50/50 combination of both new wax and the buffing action that causes the dust to just attract like a magnet......

sometimes after I wash my car and just detail spray it, especially with the bumper, You can virtually hear the static charge when I finish with the wiping.....my car is ivory, so I don't see as much dust as a black or red car...

Out by you I hear your constantly fighting the dusty/sandy wind that keeps you warm but covers your car!!!!! 2old4this

Yep, and it was like that yesterday! Especially where I live, there is a lot of development going on, and it's all sand out here, when they grade the vegetation off, blow sand! LOL, looks like Iraq!
