Cleaning the Steering Wheel

Steering wheel is a bit sticky. Usually I clean it up with a towel towel dipped in warm water. Do you have any suggestions that involve a solvent that won't damage the steering wheel or affect my driving?

I use the same cleaner conditioner that I use on my seats(Zaino for both) every couple months. I'll occassionally top with 303 for protection, and weekly just wipe down with damp mf towel.

For the Steering wheel I use a 1:10 ratio of any APC to clean the steering wheel. First I spray the mixture on the steering and use damp warm terry cloth to remove the dirt and grime and then use another damp warm terry cloth to remove the left over residue.

After that I just spray my interior protectant (303) on everywhere but where I grab the steering wheel.

Stick with a good leather cleaner or mild soap and water.

Leather steering wheel:
1. Clean the wheel’s leather surface with a leather cleaner (Leather Master Strong Effect Cleaner ) or a de-greaser (P21S Total Auto Wash) diluted 5:1 with warm distilled water in a spray bottle; dependant upon type and extent of soil or stain
2. Using a Medium / hard horse hair brush, or a soft sponge, spray and work the cleaner into a foam, lightly scrub surface and immediately wipe with a terry towel to remove excess moisture, especially around stitching (you may need to repeat this process).
3. Then use vacuum extractor or compressed air nozzle to dry
4. Once wheel is thoroughly dry apply a (Leather Master’s) leather protection

I bought my G used and the steering wheel & shifter both had ground in dirt/finger oil that made them look like the leather was worn down. I used the Zaino leather cleaner with a small brush and they look like new. The Zaino leather conditioner also works very nicely.

I have had good experience with the 4* leather products also.
