cleaning rims

i have volks and i only use water and soap on them but the front have brake dust baked on and feel rough..can i use a claybar on them to clean them up or will it ruin the finish?? thanks!!

Yes you can use a clay bar on them. But first clean them well with a wheel cleaner thats good for you wheels.

How do you apply clay? i mean is it like wax or liquid based?

Well actually you move it in either a side to side motion or up and down motion like if you were wet sanding. But you first spray the clay and surface you going to be claying with clay lube and every time you feel the clay start sticking to the surface. You want it to glide over the spot with the clay lube your spray so it can pick up the containments. You keep going over the spot until it feels smooth, then your know it picked up all the containments off that spot on the paint.

Clay is a plastic petroleum base clay that has micro abrasive to pick up containments. Clay comes's in different grades from mild to very abrasive
