Starting looking into tinting out my new G35 Coupe, a light tint 50%. I am in Northern Jersey. Was told by Beverly Hills Auto in Basking Ridge that they can not promise me a perfect tint job with the rear window due to the black mesh dots. Has anyone had an issue with this? They are a great shop but quoted me way to high, over $400, anyone in Jersey have anyother suggestions. Looking for a good tint (LLumar) and a respectable shop. Need Help

 

I work in Somerville, and next week , I am going to take a ride down the road during lunch to the Somerville circle...there is a detailing shop there...I want to see the prices they have to offer... I will let you know.

Hmmm........the only film that would cost $400+ installed would be Huper Optik and that film is only exclusive to certain dealers. If it's any other tint, then $400 sounds a bit on the high side. Normally, I charge $250 for Madico's premier Onyx line..........and that's their best film.

As for the dot matrix, there is a way to eliminate the tint being pushed up by the matrix and give it a factory look. But this is something that many installers do not know how to achieve.

Let me know how you make out. What shop are you talking about at the somerville circle? I know the area pretty well.

 

if its a good shop they should know what they are doing. if they take their time with it its comes out nice. you dont see the bubbles. and WOW they are rapping you on the price. i got my whole car done for $140 with titanium tint from the same place the dealer take it to.

 

I don't know the name off the top of my head...the one around the circle...but I was speaking to someone over the weekned..and they recommended some one in the bridgewater area for tinting. I am going to do a search and let you know.

i got the 3M tint recently, and the dotted part of the windshield came out about 95% clean. when the film dried, i saw alot of tiny bubbles in 2 different areas. i took it back and they re-did the tint, and now the dotted part doesnt look so good.
got mine done at AcuTint cuz they did a lot of G35's from the pictures i've seen in their store.

 

I'm here in California, however the Tint guy I used told me today that he has this special "Black Vinyl" he uses on Dot Matrix. It's great and also informed me to stay away from paint due to climate control. He told me if anyone was interested in purchasing this mat to contact him and he would work with anyone interested. My guy uses adhesive black vinyl over the dot matrix pattern as well. It looks awesome. Posting pics soon.

Just got mine done yesterday... the tinter told me to let it sit for a couple of weeks, and then the residual parts that didn't adhere (in the dot matrix area) could be worked out without a problem -- said I could do it just by hand, or if I wanted I could bring it back to him and he'd take care of it.
