Best Way To Clean Carpets

at home, the winter's almost completely over in New England, and it's time to throw them on and remove the rubber all seasons, they caught a storm in the begining of the winter I didn't expect before I could take them out of the car, so theres some pretty ugly mud stains, etc...Whats the best way to clean at home?? Can I use a regular carpet shampoo machine like my mom uses on the living room carpet?

Yes, I use my wifes bissell "spot bot". It works great in cleaning the mats/carpets.

Some others use a mixture of woolite and water....I think a ratio of 6:1. use a soft brissel brush, and then just hose them off. If you have a wet vac, you can use it to remove the excess water, and then let them air dry.

I'm sure alot of others will chime in as well......

i used some Griot's InteriorCleaner last weekend to clean up the carpeting
on my dd's. i just used a cotton rag to work it in. i see they also have a
special "CarpetCleaner" now....

here's wat i did...

1. shopvac'ed the a/s floor mats, carpets.
2. washed the a/s floor mats using 50:50 simplegreen to tap water, air dry.
3. Griot's InteriorCleaner and cottom rag to work product in, clean up
salt and crap out. re-vac'ed.

4. PrimaNero 50:50 with distilled water. air dry. (dries matte).

Use folex to clean the carpets. Its cheap and works

1.First vacuum the carpet mats
2.Then brush them dry to remove and dirt in the naps
3.Vacuum it again
4.Use a bucket of hot water. Dip the brush in it and scrub the matt
5.Spray the folex onto the carpet and start agaiting the entire carpet
6.Let it sit there for 3-5 mins and then vacuum with a wet/dry vac.
7.Then brush in opposite direction to give the carpets a stripes pattern.

I use to this when I didn't have a extractor. Also in the pic, thats after two weeks.
