Paint issues?
Paint issues?
I picked up a 2008 black g35xS last week. Very hard to keep clean! But in addition to that I have had some extra help getting it dirty by a few birds. I guess one did it's business last night on the front fender which I removed about 6-8 hours later. There is a stain which is not coming off. I have tried washing, re-waxing, etc. but no luck. The stain appears to be there for good. This is the first car I've had that has reacted this way. I traded in a Platinum FX45 which had loads of bird**** on it over the years, but never with this reaction to the paint. Suggestions or comments?
what was the build date? That can give you an idea of how far along the paint curing process it. Also, if the car was sitting in the sun, baking, with that s*it on it, 6-8 hours on uncured paint is something that can allow that to happen.
When new (based on build date), you have to be Uber-careful

I also have a black G35, which I love.
Anyway, bird droppings can etch clearcoat in a matter of minutes. The etching can make the clearcoat look a bit cloudy, and waxing will not help.
This is an issue with all cars, although it is by far the most noticeable on black.
I would try a bit of Meguiar's scratch-x and see if that does the trick. As for preventative measures, I would use Klasse AIO followed by a few coats of Klasse SG. Also, I keep a microfiber towel and a bottle of water in the trunk so that I can get off bird poop as soon as I see it.
Having a black car is a blessing and a curse.

Just arrived at the dealership 5 days before I picked it up, so I guess it's just off the boat. I thought all the paints would have been well cured, but I guess not. Uber careful is what I'll have to be. I think I'll take it back to the dealer and let them deal with it for now... and then if it is an ongoing issue it'll at least be on record early on. I did try the Meguiar's scratch-x without any luck. Looks like I need to make room in the garage for sh_t protection! Thanks for the replies...
