PC7424 Backing plate VS G35 hood = FTLLL!!

So its a beautiful saturday out. 75*, no wind, and I've got the whole afternoon and a garage to myself. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day for detailing.

So there I am, polishing away on my hood with the PC7424 at around 5 speed. Everythings going well, until I feel a funny loose excess vibration. Before I knew it, the backing plate flung off, and 1000rpm metal meets Infiniti paint. Here are the results..

I emailed Eric from Lake County MFG and Im gonna try to get them to pay for the damage...Apparently, they had a batch of bad backing plates. I also emailed George from DI and he says hes gonna send me a replacement (Thanks George!)

Just a heads up to all you PC users...if you feel a sudden loose vibration...STOP!!!!!!

Man that sucks! I'm interested to find out what LC says/does about it.

It's crazy how something so enjoyable can turn ugly FAST! One fortunate thing is that it didn't happen to someone elses car leaving you to have to fix it

They have a defect on the 6" backing plate, this case was an old case around 3 -4 months ago... when you get ur new one, check around the metal part where it connects with the yellow plastic.

Yikes. That is scary. Hopefully LC will come through. Eric used to post on Autopia but I haven't been on there since David banned me for calling him a hypocrite, LOL.

I got an estimate from a local shop, they est. $430 in damage. I emailed Eric the receipt and he says to get it done, and they will furnish a check to the shop. So hopefully all goes well!

It's sucks that happened but it's encouraging to hear Eric isn't passing the buck elsewhere.

Wow! I would cry. Sounds great that they're gonna fix the issue.

Correction: the PC doesn't spin anywhere close to 1000rpms. It oscillates with a slight rotation that is quickly stopped if pressure is placed.
