i handwashed the car today for the first time this spring. i didn't see any paint chips, but just a few nicks. in fact, i think i had more dead bugs than nicks on the front bumper. but eh, it still doesn't draw attention away from the beauty of the rest of the car so i don't mind. So what you're telling us, then is RUN to the clear bra installers and have them do their magic before the damage is done - thanks! (I'm at 2300 miles and noticed my first small chip today).

Actually alot has to deal with the paint. In 2001 the government mandated that painting methods must be changed to reduce CFC's. Cars after 2001, (except german cars) all have a much "weaker" paint.

I have 2 1998 cars : Toyota Corrolla and a Honda Civic and NEITHER car looks as bad as the G does (less then a year old). Even the SIDES of the G are chipped.
