A typical carnuba wax will provide you protection for about 4-6 weeks, while a sealant will provide you protection for 4-6 months. Since you've stated you are lazy and don't want to spend much time on your car, which would you prefer? Like I mentioned in an earlier post, FMJ sealant is about as easy to apply and remove as you are going to get, and has great durability as well.

okay thanks.. is a sealant as good at protecting as a wax without the deep shiny reflection look?

I detail cars all the time and I personally think it's kinda pointless to use a sealant if you haven't polished your car first (my opinion). You said you want simple...get Meguiars Tech Wax 2.0 and call it a day. You really can't screw it up. Put it on, take it off, smile at reflection. Don't make it harder than it needs to be.

My mistake. I don't use Meguiars products and the product is labeled as a Wax so I assumed it was.

It has slight cleaning properties, but one coat is all you need to achieve dramatic results.

so i just picked up some tech wax 2.0 at autozone for $16.. how should I go about applying it? I haven't had my car waxed since january. Do I need to remove the old wax or just apply directly to the cleaned surface?

You probably don't really have any wax still on there if January was the last time it was waxed. I say just give it a good washing and apply the 2.0 to the car (not too much). Once you have the whole car coated, get a nice micro fiber towel, fold it in half and buff her out. 2.0 comes off like a dream so it won't take long at all.
