I tried all other methods of removing them except for polishing. I was thinking about ordering it but was wondering how effective it would be vs. polishing. Thanks for your time.

Thanks redlude for your response. I have tried diluted vinegar but the water spots were still there. I don't know, maybe I was applying it wrong and not letting it sit long enough. I think I just sprayed and wiped, several times and just resorted to polishing last time. But this time I wanna try something else before resorting to the Porter Cable again.

Duragloss makes a waterspot remover. You can go to your local carquest and pick up some of that stuff and see if it works.

Thanks Scrooge. I was on the Duragloss website and it says on the product description that it will not remove water spots if they have been etched into the paint. I've always been somewhat confused by the term "etched." How do you know if the water spots have been etched...how can I tell?

i used vinegar didnt dilute just apply it like soap and wash off

i'd suggest using the porter cable asap.

i have some hard water marks from a sprinkler "etched" into my hood, meaning it's deep into the clear coat. Hopefully it hasn't eaten through to the actual paint. i tried polishing it using a porter cable with *Power Gloss*, which is a heavy compound. I went two full passes with the polish and it reduced the water spots slightly, but not even close to removing it. I'm taking it to a bodyshop I know of to see if they can remove it.

Don't let the sun continue to bake the water spots into your clear coat / paint. Just advice from my horrible experience.

i dont mean to jack the thread but i had a quick question...

i have two jetskis which have lots of water spots. what would work good to remove the spots off of plastic????

ive tried vineger but didnt really work.

just clay and polish, with plastic x, and white pad

Sorry for not replying a little earlier, but since you do have waterspots, I suggest just going for the whole process, wash, clay with xtra fine, then polish, you can go all the way which means, going through 2 stages or just simply going for Final Polish by menzerna, then follow by seal and gloss then wax. how long was the water on your hood for? water doesnt etch itself THAT quickly into your clear coat, you just encountered an extremely hard water. i suggest trying some poor boys ssr 2.5 with your pc, u will be happy with the result

Chemical guys are smartwax. I go there reg and use the products. They are also my Team's sponsor. Give it a try they stand by their stuff. Smells good and good for the enviroment. Meguiars is same ol stuff at higher price. Most of their stuff isn't anything new.. They are in Socal stop by their place try the stuff out.....They are in Inglewood off Century BLVD I think 3435 is the address.

you mean smartwax is made by chemical guys? you claim that meg's is the same thing is very suspect though, none of the products match up

I meant nothing different or really new from Meg's not that they are Chemical guys.. Chemical guys and SMARTWAX Different stuff and better quality IMO
