How to clean black tar/rubber off rims???

I have a set of forged 350z track wheels and they have this black tar/rubber all over the rims. I am wondering what is the best way to clean it off. I can pick at it all day to clean at them with my nails but i'd run out of nails and it would take years.

What is the best way to clean or polish them right off?

try some krud kutter / tar & bug remover - make sure you let it soak in before scrubbing it off. if that doesn't work try some rubbing alcohol on it...make sure you clean up thoroughly with soap & water if you go this route

Did you already try claying it? I would give claying a chance and then start using a wheel sealant to help prevent the next grime from sticking to your wheel.

WD-40

I use it to get the rubber off the Neon Orange wheels of my race bike...

Bug and Tar remover works great. It is safe for most finishes. Wash well after and put on another coat of your favourite wheel sealant.

Tar removal....?

Almost anything you use on wheels will eventually damage the clear coat so
you must be carefully. When I want to clean anything quickly I use Gumout
carb cleaner followed by water depending what surface I'm cleaning. (Never
on the paint) This stuff works so quickly it's almost scary, but ya gotta
be careful, even disposing of the rag you used should take some thought!

^^^^WD-40 will not hurt anything. I have had motorcycles for 12 years, and thats the main thing I use to clean them. I even use it on the paint..
