Ripped Leather

Yes, it has already happend...I'm assuming some sort of hardware from a pair of pants ripped the leather on the drivers seat of my G. Now I have a 4 1/2" U-shaped rip right between the crotch area of the seat. Anyone know if this might be covered under warranty? Or what I can use to fix this? It's a bummer since I've been so **** about my car. I want to get this fixed before it gets any bigger too, so helpful replies are appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Ripped Leather

Why would you think you ripping your leather seat on a jean rivet would fall under warranty?

Go to your yellow pages, or search online, for a vinyl top/seat shop in your area. Maybe ask local hotrod clubs. They could fix the tear.

Re: Ripped Leather

They will most likely have to replace the entire panel of the seat with a rip that big, that would probably be best anyway. What the hell made a rip like that? I have never seen a jean rivet do more than nick something,

Re: Ripped Leather

turns out it wasn't a jean rivet...it was my boyfriend's blackberry cellular clip. he feels awful for doing it and i think the earlier it's fixed the better he and i both feel. thanks for the feed back guys...infiniti said they'd take a look at it. hopefully they know of someone who can fix this. if anything i'll look into finding someone that can match the leather and replace the entire panel.

Re: Ripped Leather

It's possible they could actually order the panel from Infiniti, or maybe the entire seat bottom, I know I have had warranty repairs on seats in the past from "another" car maker!

Re: Ripped Leather

AAARRRGGGHHHH!!! I just put a 1/4" L-shaped hole with a nice scratch on my driver seat. I forgot I had a fork in my back pocket....(I know, what kind of idiot walks around with eating utensils in his back pocket?? It's just habit...I was heating my lunch at work and didn't want to leave my fork on a filthy counter. Since I had a few minutes to wait, I usually move my G coupe to a better parking spot at the office, and I guess I forgot about the fork....DOHHHH!!!)

anyways....Is there any kind of stuff you can by at a parts store, like Pep Boys, that can be 'painted' over the small tear to seal the edges and prevent further ripping??? If I find something, I'll take a 'before and after' picture and post it.
I feel like such a tool....my car was 6 months old.
