In case you never noticed, most car wash soaps have a sweet smell to it...

i am a premed student but i think i can safely diagnose you one of these

i hear they have free refills for life

anyways, to clean, QD works. 50/50 isopropyl/water mixture works too, but that strips all sealant/wax. Seeing how you don't have any, you can use either of those to clean.

Next for protection, I'd invest in some sealant and wax. Ones that actually last. That'll prevent damage to your paint. I can't guarantee that it'll fully protect your paint, but I mean, if that worries you too much, you could always get a car cover.

+2, its the soap. Fruit flies flock to my car immediately after I wash it. They usually go away after I wax it and/or a few days go by.

You said your car is white. Flies are attracted to thin edges and light colors specifically yellow. I bet the other cars are dark in color. That's why your car gets the flies. I noticed this in the parking lot at my work. I smoke cigs so I go outside and admire my G35. I live in a cow town so there are lots of flies. I notced that all the light colored cars had flies all over them and the dark colored cars had none. So I went home and searched online and some articles came up. The residue may be poop and eggs. Hope this answers your question.
