Re: oh no! swirls on black

i have a black g coupe. i also had tons of swirls because it was too cold and i was too lazy so i would take it through a car wash. i recently clay barred it and waxed with an orbital buffer. for the most part the swirls came out. some of the deeper scratches stayed, but most of the swirls were out. as far as the holes, dont know. but if its that bad in your area, you should get some quick detailer, i used to keep a bottle of meguiars and a clean cloth in my car, then i got lazy. good luck.

Re: oh no! swirls on black

my black sedan has parts of it that look like the top layer of gloss was stripped off. Like a cat scratched it. Except it's an entire area that's dull and nasty looking. Is there a way to reapply wax or some paint to cover it up?

If you see an imprint of the bird dropping on the paint, then it's already too late to do anything about it. I was able to remove those imprints on several new cars in the past month. However, this is a process that requires a lot of experience and proper technique. But to give you an idea of what I did, I had to wet-sand that area before I even begin claying and buffing.

As for your swirl marks, you would need to buff them out w/ either a high-speed buffer or an orbital buffer. You could have those scratches filled w/ some "scratch removers" from your local auto parts store.

Its really impossible to stop your finish from getting swirl marks, the best way to rid yourself of them is to take it to a professional detailer. I myself have used Klasse all in one, it doesn't remove the swirl marks, but it did a great job of smoothing out the edges so they become much less visible to the naked eye.
You can use Klasse Sealant/Glaze or Meguiar's NXT for a top coat or any quality carnauba wax like P21S or Pinnacle souveran

Then most people on the forum swear by Zaino.....the products are expensive....but many will tell you nothing beats the results if done correctly......

The less abrassive method you use, the better off you'll be.....I would try the simple methods first, and if that doesn't give you the results your after then look into professional detailing......

Re: oh no! swirls on black

GR8TG35 is right on the spot. If you are not familiar w/ using a high-speed buffer, you could easily produce more swirl marks and worse, burn your paint. There are many glazes and scratch removers on the market, but all of them are just filling in those scratches......temporary fixes. If you would like them permanently removed, a professional detailer would be your next stop. However, not all detailing locales are equal. Make sure you ask them about the # of yrs of experience and whether or not they could remove those swirl marks permanently. Expect a job like this to cost approximately $200-$300 depending on how deep the scratches are. Some places claim they'll remove the scratches, but in some cases, they would just temporarily fill in those scratches.

Can you prevent swirlmarks on a black car? I'm getting a black car soon. Is there anything I should do in order to minimize the swirlmarks or eliminate them?

Re: oh no! swirls on black

When I got my hood/front bumper repainted, I IMMEDIATELY put on a coat of Crystal Guard. The shop that did it said it was the only product they recommended in the first few weeks before the paint "cures" completely. Compared to the rest of my car, where I'd used conventional wax-based products before, it stayed 100% swirl-free.

Yes, I know it was after-market paint, but 4 months later it was STILL swirl-free, and chip free. That stuff is the best at protecting your finish, hands down, but if you've got swirls, then you need to go the Zaino route. It's not as hard as CG, nor does it technically last as long, but it will fill in swirls and make it shine like mad.

Zino and CG are both great products, and both have their merits. Having a car that's been around the block a few times, I'd go with Zaino. Having a brand-new finish, I'd go with CG.

im gonna get it professionally done, then CG it. Zaino takes too damn long to do.

Meguiars NXT wax works wonders in hiding swirls. Just add a few layers and your set. MY TB coupe had alo tof swirls but the NXT wax hides them very very well...I can barely see any at all

Yeah dyen that's what I use to remove my swirls. I can remove most of them by hand no problem.
