PAINT PROTECTION FILMS & WINDOW TINT
As many members here already know, I personally specialize in window tinting, clearbra, alarms, performance parts, etc. Recently, I've noticed many people asking about types of tint & clearbras to get for their cars. Here's a breakdown of the various brands of tint and clearbras including my personal opinion about them.
TINT:
-Madico Window Films: excellent heat reduction & clarity, but more expensive than most brands except Huper.
-Huper: To us dealers, it costs 5 times more than other films. Excellent heat reduction w/ their ceramic based films. Clarity is also equivalent to Madico's Film, but cure time can exceed 30 days due to the film's thickness. Expect install to cost $400-$500 depending on vehicle.
-Formula One: a company that push for quality of install & tint. However, they attempt to certify all of the installers using their films.........the problem to this is you'll get a lot of installers new to the industry getting experience w/ your vehicle. Film's actually Llumar's high end film. Excellent heat reduction. Pricing is similar to Madico.
-Solargard: Film offers decent heat reduction and clarity is close to Madico / Huper. Pricing will be less than the above films
-Llumar Films: Equivalent to Solargard Films in heat reduction. Wash marks highly visible under fluorescent & sunlight. Pricing is on par w/ Solargard films.
-Johnson Window Films: Film is the cheapest of the bunch and have been known to fade under extreme heat (watch out Vegas). Their Executive Line leaves a lot of dimple water marks that may not dissipate for at least a month.
Paint Protection Film
-Madico: Just came out w/ film....Edre (EDL in Torrance, CA) and I will be testing this film soon (no orange peel). So far, by looking @ the samples, it is ultra clear and pricing is comparable to Llumar & 3M
-3M: Orange peel......soon to be releasing new film to catch up to competitors w/ clearer film
-Llumar: Film introduced a few months......scratches fairly easy, but is much clearer than 3M. Pricing is comparable to 3M & Madico.
-Venture Tape: Film is very clear and pricing is similar to the rest. Easier to work with, which cuts down on install time. Similar pricing from the above film companies.
Hope I answered a lot of questions for members on this forum. In California, there are quite a lot of companies I could recommend if you're away from the Bay Area.
