Problem with microfiber towels

Hey,

For some reason when I clean the windows on my car I have been noticing that the microfiber towels are leaving small fibers on the windows. Its no something that I can see when cleaning the windows, I see it at night when I drive under a street light. Now it is at the point where I'm becoming very annoyed with the fibers on the window, it looks like dust that never comes off. The only way I can remove it is by cleaning the windows with paper towels and glass cleaner.

I have tried 2 different kinds of microfiber towels, yellow ones that come in a big bag from costco, and some blue ones I picked up at pepboys. I have also washed them several times thinking this would remove loose fibers, but that also does not help.

The only glass cleaners I have used are sprayway and Invisable Glass.

What could be causing this to happen, should I not be using microfiber to clean the windows? I dont know if this has been happening all the time and I just see it now.

sounds like you need some different towels. That's odd both do the same.

I get same thing.

I also noticed that if you apply less pressure on the towel when wiping down the window it leaves less fibers.

if you run all your brand new microfiber towels through a load of laundry (no soup) after they come out of the dryer they wont leave fuzzies on your car anymore..

detailedimage, autogeek and every other major detailer supplier sell glass polishing microfibers towels which have a much tighter weave, which will not leave any strands, dirt, or streaks behind... next time you place an order online from one of them, just make sure to include that in your order (they're fairly cheap, $5-7)... also, i've had a lot of success in the past using newspaper (the ink acts as a polisher and leaves a streak-free, clean surface)...

Newspaper and glass cleaner work well enough, I would save the money for premium microfiber for the jobs that really warrant it, such as polishing and waxing.

I just cleaned it with paper towels, and they do a better job.

The papertowels leave alot of white dust, but when it dries it blows right off the car, unlike the microfiber fibers that stick to the windows.

^ +1

Either use a glass polishing microfiber or just use some newspaper.

Go to your local newspaper and ask for an endroll. It's the leftover from the day's press with no ink on it and very large. I'm still using one I got 3 years agoand they are free.

+1 on the newspaper. ^ I thought the ink was the "secret" thats what it says on back of the invisible glass cleaner bottle.

If your Mf are leave lint around. It maybe could be done by washing them with other fabric could be the reason why your mf are leaving lint. Try only washing you glass towel by themselves and clean the lint tray before throwing them into the dryer.
