As a former OB owner..

1. Don't get hard water on your car.

2. Wash it weekly.

3. Random orbital with orange pad will cut water spots off once or twice a year if they end up on there despite #1 and #2.

It should say in the owners manual somwhere that the black paint is not for outdoor use.

As far as the water spots just keep backing away from the car until you can't see them anymore.

I don't let the water dry on my car. When I get home always wiping it down. You can use a spray quick detailer if they aren't too bad.

the best way to get rid of it is clay bar, polish, and to top it all of wax
but just make sure not to park your car by sprinklers or parkin it in the rain IF your car is dirty
if ur car is clean and its raining its alright, but if its dirty thats a problem. also dont park near trees, cuz sap its a b!tch to take off and some bird poop seeps into the the paint

just given heads up how to keep your paint clean
but clay bar is your best choice

Meguiar's Ultimate Kwik Detailer is my new favorite. I used it for the first time over the weekend. I washed my car on Thursday and drove to work on Friday after an overnight rain. My car was covered in water spots and road film after getting stuck behind every truck on the road in my morning commute. At first glance after applying, I was happy that my car was clean, but the next day I was amazed how deep the shine was after the 12 hour "curing" process.

Get a water softener. When we lived in PA we had / still have a black car. The water in our area was extremely hard due to limestone. I noticed that rain didn't do much to the car but if the sprinklers hit the damned thing and the drops were left to dry.....instant spotting. It was the hard water.

Solution? We installed a water softener to treat all incoming water for the house. I could bypass the system for water used outdoors but I didn't. I used softened water for the grass, washing the car, and doing the dishes. The spots were no longer a problem.

Also, all our cars are either in our garage or a garage at work 90% of the time. That helps in owning a black car.

There's no easy answer. Black is a b i t c h.

Using a quality wax such as Migliore will help protect your paint and will ease the removal of water spots when weekly washing.
